Introducing: “Mind Your Language”

I see grammar mistakes everywhere I go. Trust me, it’s not something I always enjoy; consider me the “I see dead people” kid of grammar policing. Some people are really gifted at solving complex math equations or remembering obscure sports statistics from 30 years ago. I’ve found my life’s blessing/curse is in seeing misplaced commas, egregious spelling errors, or misplaced modifiers in news stories, ad campaigns, slogans… even song lyrics!

Welcome to “Mind Your Language,” an attempt to bring humor and – dare I suggest – a bit of wisdom to everyday situations where words matter. (And yes, those who know me well will likely recognize the double entendre of the title for my love of specific terms of the English language.)

Let me be clear, though: This is not an attempt to shame anyone for misusing certain terms or not having a deep love of parts of speech and punctuation. Nor am I professing to be an expert on all things related to grammar. I offer this as an educational opportunity for all of us to be mindful of the words we use and the ways in which they appear, particularly in professional settings. I hope you’ll find it informative and entertaining.
